As though I’d find that golden key, escaping
from the corridors of my mind
at 2:44 in the morning.
Instead, revisiting familiar, forgotten rooms;
the shelves that hide my adolescence beneath dimly lit incandescence remain
Unmoved from where they vowed to hold ground
in me.
I just want to find that ledge again, but leap.
